Illustration for young childrenClassroom teaching provided me with many opportunities to read stories and non-fiction books to young children and I am an avid fan of many children's book illustrators.

Kids have a direct way of showing you when something is not interesting. Children's books that inspire exploration of ideas, problem solving and creativity are definitely my favorite.

I am inspired by many children's illustrators. Some of my favorites are:

  • Anita Jeram (Guess How Much I Love You)
  • Edward Ardizzone (Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain...)
  • Robert McCloskey (Make Way for Ducklings, Blueberries for Sal...)
  • Virginia Lee Burton (Mike Mulligan and his
    Steam Shovel)
  • Wanda Gag( Millions of Cats)
  • Walt Kelly (Pogo)
  • William Steig (Sylvester and the Magic Penny, The New Yorker...)
  • W. W. Denslow (Wizard of Oz series)

sdsdsdI found this huge Cerisyl sphinx moth caterpillar while out walking. As there were many crows wandering around the area pecking at objects on the ground, I picked it up and took it home.

The caterpillar was as long as a brand new crayon. I sketched it before returning it to its home.
